Mom, I love the ad, and it being a Mormon community, I think many people will appreciate it :) Haha! Well, I love my life here in Taipei. We get to meet so many people, and from all over the globe. It's cool to proselyte in Chinese, English, and say hello and welcome to Indonesians, Philippinos, and Japanese. This week has been a little crazy, and not super high number wise but I'm hoping in the next few weeks we'll see the fruits of this past week. We contacted a lot, but we also called a lot of formers and potentials and this week we have set ups, and we also were able to tell the ward in advance so on Sunday people signed up to peike. It was awesome! This way our members will meet more investigators and hopefully this will get our investigators to church too! This past week we also gave away another investigator. She is super prepared and we met with her a couple of times and she really likes prayer, has already felt a bit of it's power, but turns out she lives in Shilin (the district just north of us). Oh well, we've also been blessed with quite a few formers who we found out moved but are willing to meet with missionaries again, so THAT was great to send referrals. I know that every missionary is always just waiting and praying to receive referrals and I hope this week we could give some people a good chance to hear the gospel. Taipei CityView from 2nd tallest building in the world, "Taipei 101" | had Sister Bywater and Sister Sagisi as companions before I get my new companion (to train). I'm so happy they are here safely and they all looked so good (but so tired!) last night at the fireside. I'm praying that she will be able to see someone, maybe more come unto Christ and be baptized while we are together. I'm really in awe that I'll get to be a new sisters' companion, to be blessed to be around that fire, that faith, and that excitement. I'm so excited to still be in Wanda! I love and know the members, and the area, and this week when I was on exchanges with Sister Thornley (she was in her first area 7 transfers) she was telling about how it is hard sometimes to think, 'ok, contact down this road... again... say hi to xia amah and see how Mr. Chen's knee is doing..." BUT she said she also realized because she had this information, she felt she could better receive inspiration. If they needed peike's she knew where the members lived and could contact by her house. She also said (and I second this blessing) if you forget the list of LA's at home, you can still visit their house because you know right where it is. Haha! I love Sister Thornley and Sister Nelson, they are our sister training leaders and I love everytime we go on exchanges. This past exchange was crazy, long story short, her bike helmet was stolen and you can only take bikes on the MRT weekends and holidays, and no one knows where any shops are at ximen ding MRT station. haha! SO she bought a motorcycle helmet (like Sister Bywater) until we got to my area, and we could get to a bycycle shop... then grab some dinner (by then it was 7:30!) and we still were blessed with finding a new investigator (who is so cool and still planning to meet with us this week). So I'm super happy! I'm so excited to keep working and to show another companion the wonderful place of miracles, DaTong District. OH! I have to tell you, this week it started, I began to realize I speak Chinese. There are definitely moments I don't understand and can't express exactly what I want, BUT I can usually circumlocute and wow, Heavenly Father has helped me, in 8 months, speak Chinese with Taiwanese people on the street. It's not perfect or anything, but it's not bad. :) I love this language. I love the people and I love love this opportunity Heavenly Father is giving me to learn Chinese! I'mm get my new companion tomorrow morning. Today I'm going to a trainers' meeting where they'll hopefully tell us a little about what the heck we are supposed to be doing :) haha! I'm so excited and love my life. It's hard, some days are reallllly hard. But it's good. And I know the sun'll come always come out tomorrow. . . unless there is a typhoon. :) Anyway, I'm starting to realize truly what a blessing it has been to see the ward change, to feel myself change, and to just love DaTong's hidden treasures. I love this work and I love being in Taiwan Taipei! I'm excited to "babysit" tonight and just get a taste of the miracles that are in store for WanDa the next few months. I know she's on the speed boat, and I'm gonna hop right in with her. :) Love, Sister Smith |
