There was a Mandarin showing of the movie, The Testaments, on Sunday so we all went. I think I literally picked up on about 10 words in the whole thing, but I have NEVER understood that movie more fully or deeply in my entire life. Seriously go find that movie and watch it. I jsut watched their faces and their actions. As soon as it got to the part of Christ in Gethsemene, I was gone, tears rolling down my cheeks and it didn't stop until the final credits. That movie is all about love. Everything Christ did was love. Everything God does is out of love. Helam and Jacob, the two main characters, their actions particularly in the last 15 minutes were all about love.
This movie reminded me of something very important; Jesus is Our Lord. He is our Savior. And He is coming soon. This is why the work is hastening. Nothing makes you productive like the last minute, right? We no longer have the time to think, "Oh Christ? Yeah, He'll come eventually." No. We all need to do our part in bringing our brothers and sisters unto Christ, because our savior, who loves us so much is coming! This is joyous news!
Missionary work is no longer missionaries with members on the side. It has almost switched. This is about EVERYONE! This is a work of members finding, members inviting, members loving and becoming friends with all you meet, with the missionaries set apart to simply follow the Spirit in teaching the people of Christ and His Atonement. Whoever reads this, I just hope you know that you are a precious child of your Heavenly Father, and He knows your name. 3 Nephi 17- He blessed the children one by one. Isn't that great to know? Now go tell someone else. We are all here to learn and grow and help our family get back to Heaven...this isn't just your physical family. Our spiritual family needs our help as well!
I just LOVE the MTC, I love missionary work, and I love Jesus Christ. Mandarine is hard, but it's simply a tool I'm trying to develop in order to teach the Taiwanese people about Christ. The Book of Mormon is totally true. I want all of you to read it and pray about it so that you may also know the joy it brings! The answers it holds! I am so grateful (understatement of the eternities) that Christ atoned for my sins, and that through this I can not only live with God again, but I can live with my family for eternity. That's why 18 months will be too short. I gotta go now. I hope you are all reading the Book of Mormon and living your life following Christ's example. I promise you will be blessed.
Love you all!
Love, Sima Jiemei
