President Uchtdorf:
-God knows you. He knows when you have felt happy, sad, confused, angry, etc. No matter your history, know that you are not alone. God calls to us to come home, and we are never too far away.
-From the beginning God has spoken through prophets, so we ought to listen.
- Turn to the Lord, why?
--- Your life will be better.
--- God will use you to make the lives of others better.
God allows adversity to test the just and unjust.
Do you want to experience abiding joy?
Turn your soul to the light, continue your journey home.
Sister Oscarson
Serve others.
Ask, Who can I serve today? What can I give?
Elder Dallin H. Oaks
Standards of the world. We must not lower our standards.
HIGH ON A MOUNTAIN TOP
John Pingree Jr.
God has prepared us individually.
1) Focus on Others
2) Discover and develop spiritual gifts.
Allow God to work through you with your gifts to bless many.
As we discover our gifts, we have a responsibility to develop them.
3) Make use of adversity
Our trails help us discover and prepare for the work of Heavenly Father has for us.
4) Rely on God.
He will open the doors necessary for us.
Are we living in such a way that the Lord can work through us?
Satan discourages, distracts, destroys. He tells us our assignment is less than others, but God called us to be in THAT position for a reason.
Seek God's direction and access His strength.
We can emulate the Savior's humility be deflecting personal praise and glorifying the Father.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson
Symbolism of the sacrament.
Bread of Life and Living Water to represent Christ.
Bread is broken and we remember Christ's body being torn.
Drink water, think of the blood shed in Gethsemane.
Internalize the qualities of Christ.
We must fully and completely take His example and sinless life into our life.
We cannot be content to remain as we are but must be moving constantly toward 'the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.'
Service is the very fiber of which an exalted life in the celestial kingdom is made.
Most often it is the sacrifices we make to keep our covenants that sanctify us and make us holy.
"Holiness to the Lord"- our focus on holiness means we need to put away anything in our lives that are not in accordance to the Lord. God will show us our failings but He will also give us the way to overcome and change.
Let us not be content with where we are, but neither let us be discouraged.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
Except for Jesus, there have been no flawless performances on this earthly journey we are pursuing, so … strive for steady improvement.
I would hope we could pursue personal improvement in a way that doesn’t include … feeling depressed or demolishing self-esteem.
“While in mortality let’s strive for steady improvement w/o obsessing over what behavioral scientists call ‘toxic perfectionism."
