Hey Ya'll! Thank you for the Valentines! Sorry I like never have enough time to write, but I just want to tell you about everything I do all day long!... Which is funny because I literally sit in a classroom for at least 10 hours a day! I'm still writing in my journal and I'll send the next section before I leave the MTC. Until then, know that Sister Murri and I are teaching 2 progressing investigators (aka our teachers acting like people from their missions). ONE THING I'VE LEARNED is that I have no idea what I'm doing, but as long as I am spiritually prepared, I can trust whatever thoughts come into my head.
Chinese is interesting to say the least. It is hard because the grammar structure is very different from English and it is very specific, with classifiers and such. It's awesome too though because words like shangxin (Sadness) are two characters put together and when you look at the individual characters, the word makes sense (shang=wound, and xin= heart...thus wounded heart= sadness). I love this language and there is no way I am learning it by myself. The Lord has done it all. I mean at this point, 4 weeks in, I can pray, bear testimony and tell someone how to pray, talk about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith (I mean, this is very simple sentences, patchily pieced together, and using the same simple vocabulary) but it's amazing what the Lord allows us to do as I try to turn my will to His and let my whole heart and mind be his.
Sunday, Jeffery Holland gave a powerful talk on the importance and amazing life of Joseph Smith. The UVU institute choir sang Praise To The Man fantastically! It is amazing to think of Joseph Smith's life and the miracles the Lord wrought through him. Everyone loved the meeting. It's true! Read Josep Smith History! His life, the translation of the Book of Mormon, and restoration of the gospel. Incredible, it's the gospel Jesus Christ Himself, taught over 2000 years ago.
We've been talking this week about sanctification, how to sanctify ourselves and our district. Our district is awesome, we have goals to make our classroom our home, a home where the spirit can dwell, and we can all focus, learn and help each other improve.
Mark 1:16-18- We can become fishers of men as we lay aside our nets... "Nets" are whatever is holding you back. Is it that computer game? That one TV show? Those songs? Whatever it is, I can promise you that as you drop it, and follow Christ more fully, you will be blessed and your relationship with Christ will be strengthened.
I love Jesus Christ. I love this gospel and I know that it is true. I want everyone to believe inChrist, get to know Him, and be able to live with him and their families forever. I love all of you! Thank you for you letters and DEAR ELDER's, It means so much that you take time to think of me. Thank you! Lots of Love, Sima Jiemei
